It was a heckuva run, but after three years, we at CellWand are shutting down our mobile app, The Ride.
To our almost 100,000 users over the last three years, we appreciate your loyalty and usage but January 2019 will be The Ride’s last stop.
With a sustained level of low price competition, the cost of user acquisition remaining high and continued challenges within the transportation ecosystem, we no longer see a profitable light at the end of the tunnel.
To those who worked with us on the service over the years, we tip our hat and offer our sincere thanks.
It’s not all bad news though. Our other realization in 2018 has been that our flagship service, #TAXI (#8294 on you mobile), remains strong with a tremendously loyal user base with 100’s of thousands of calls in 2018. With over 16 million calls in Canada to-date in over 900 cities and towns across Canada we are starting to think it might outlive all of us.
So if you are stuck for a ride and your go- to mobile app isn’t a great option, remember #TAXI remains available on every mobile phone and in every city across Canada.
